I have some projects around the house that I need to get done. So I have removed the link that has a form and my address. If I get caught up on work the address and form will probably be back on this web page 4-04-2015.

I repair watches only, and do not do appraisals, or sell parts.

I work out of my house and do not have a retail shop. That means you will have to mail your watches to me for repair. For my address and a form to send with your watches, Please click on 'Sending Your Watch' at the top of the page.

If you are in the Portland area, and do not want to mail me your watch I suggest you call Klein Jewelers for your watch repair needs. tel: 503 226-6748. If you just need a battery, Batteries and Bulbs on Broadway 503 546-4962 does a good job. If you are outside the Portland area you should probably contact AWCI (American Watch/Clockmaker Institute tel: 866 367-9800) for a referral to solve your watch problems.

Please, before sending your watch in for repairs, E-mail (include your telephone number and first and last name) or call: Stephen Thomas (503) 239-1859,  jpaulson@earthlink.net with details as to the type of repairs your watch might need. I then do not end up with a lot of un-repairable watches in my safe, and you do not waste your time or money either. It is quite often much more efficient for me to call you, so please include your telephone number, in your emails.

I am an authorized repair center for Hamilton watches, and can acquire almost any genuine part for newer Hamilton watches from case parts, to crystals, bezels, and bands; but If your watch is still under warranty from Hamilton, you should send it to Hamilton for repair. If your Hamilton watch is older than twenty years I can probably still repair it, but new parts might not be available. If you have a question about repair of your Hamilton  watch please do not hesitate to E-mail or call me (Stephen Thomas) with your questions. Calling and getting me in person or leaving a message on my machine is the most efficient.  Also it takes a good deal of time to answer your e-mailed questions, so do us a favor and turn off your spam blocker for my email address (which can be found by clicking the link contacting me at the top of the page) and please empty your mail box so my reply doesn't get sent back to me. When you leave a message on my answering machine please indicate what kind of watch you have (such as day-date, automatic, chronograph, what is wrong with your watch, and your telephone number. If you have a Hamilton touch screen watch you will need to send it to an authorized repair center for repair. The Hamilton electric  watch with the 503 number movement, is a Hamilton watch I no longer work on.

There are literally thousands of older Hamilton watches from pocket watches to wrist watches. I can acquire and install almost any part from crystals to internal parts for older Hamilton watches.

Please do not E-Mail me asking me to sell parts as I do not sell parts. I only repair watches and jewelry and have a hard enough time finding parts for my own use.

I have a one year no quibble warranty on all repair work.

Dear Mr. Stephen Thomas,

Good afternoon. I wanted to write back and thank you for the recent service and repair of my Hamilton Thin-o-matic. So far, the watch is running strong and keeping accurate time! I also wanted to commend you on your professionalism, high-level of customer service, and care that you put into this transaction. Additionally, your assessment and pricing of the necessary repairs was fair and honest.

Thank you again for your time and effort in prolonging the life of this special watch!!

Best regards,

Dear Stephen

Today I have had safe delivery of the Hamilton watch you repaired for me.  It's always something of a gamble to send a treasured item (my father's watch!) to a complete stranger, especially if that stranger has been located via the internet and is in another country.  That said, there was something about your website that inspired me to believe that you were the man who could repair a watch that needed time and attention, not to mention parts!

After sending the watch, I very much appreciated your timely responses, your frank assessment, your reasonable (and up front) charges and your regular messages of progress.  I was impressed with the time you took to ensure that the watch was working properly and keeping accurate time.  I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending your skilled, dedicated and conscientious services.

With Grateful Thanks and Best Wishes

Dear Stephen,
My beautifully restored Hamilton watch just arrived by post.  It looks lovely and is ticking its little heart out.  Thank you for such a fine job with this cherished watch. Your professionalism and expertise are very much appreciated.
I will send you my mother's watch later next year, because it too, deserves the same detailed attention.
Thank you so much.

Thank you for the work on my Hamilton Multi-Touch.  Prior to getting in touch with you, I was told by a local watch repair shop that it could not be fixed, and then was told by another company online that they could fix it but it would cost over $500 (I don't think I paid that much for the watch!).  I had resigned to just throw the watch away but you saved the day, repairing it for a much more reasonable amount and it seems to be working great.

Many thanks.

Hi Stephen I received my watch on Saturday and am thrilled with the results.  It looks fabulous after the thorough cleaning you gave it, and it is working perfectly.  Not only do I again have a watch that I love, but also a watch that brings back wonderful memories.  My mom gave the watch to my dad when they got married, and it always has meant a lot to me.  Being able to wear it, and remember the significance of it to my family, means more than words can say.  Thank you for taking such good care of this very important and sentimental watch, which because of your expertise, is again a working watch!

Thank you very much for repairing my Hamilton pocket watch. To me the watch was priceless. It had been given to me from my grandfather when he passed away 33 years ago. The watch itself was much older than that. As you know it went through the washer and dryer 33 years ago. I was totally devastated and ashamed of myself that I could have ever let that happen. I assumed there was no hope of it ever being repaired and let it sit in a drawer for all those years. Then one day, this year, I came across your website and I felt that this is one person I can trust to see if anything could be done to repair the watch. Your website instilled the confidence in me to give it a try. Am I ever happy that I did. The watch is beautiful and in perfect running order. It is unbelievable. The watch will be passed on to my son and on and on.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Your workmanship is truly appreciated!

Dear Stephen,
I received my watch a few days ago. I've been wearing the watch for several days, and it looks and works great. Thank you for the great work.

Dear Mr. Thomas,

I am exceedingly pleased with the service you performed on my vintage Hamilton Pocket Watch. It is a real beauty. The polished case came out even better than I had expected. I became interested in the history of the Hamilton Watch Company and did a little research. I noted that the first Hamilton watch was designed by H. C. Cain at the newly formed Hamilton plant in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1892. I do not know if Mr. Cain had anything to do with my Hamilton pocket watch but I am sure that if he did he would be very proud of it. I like it so much I think I might see if I can find a tailor that will put a watch pocket in my trousers.

Thanks for a splendid job. I would gladly recommend your services to anyone interested in having their valuable vintage watches cleaned and repaired.

Sincerely yours,

(Hamilton Pocket Watch)

Hi Stephen! I received my grandfathers watch today and it is absolutely beautiful!! I cannot believe that it's the same watch! This, as you know, is a family heirloom and you have done a fantastic job restoring the watch to its original condition. The polishing is perfect and it looks just as it did new years ago. I am extremely pleased with your work, craftsmanship, and quality that you put into restoring this watch. I would like some info on the origin of the watch.... Is it water resistant and when is the approximate date of manufacture? Also, what can I expect as far as accuracy, and how often should I wind it to it's full capacity?

Again.....Thank you so very, very, very, much for restoring this watch. It was my mothers-fathers watch and I cannot wait to for her to see it. She resides in a nursing home and has been in failing health. This will defiantly lift her spirits and bring her some fond memories.

Dear Stephen, Thank you for getting my watch up and running again...and
the info. ... I'm relieved to hear that the parts are OK and no
damage....And a big thank you for your willingness and
professionalism...taking the time to re-examine and repair my Hamilton
watch. A pleasure doing business with you, and I wish Quality Watch Repair
continued success.......
Sincerely yours,

Thank you very much for saving my Hamilton watch. When I sent it to you it looked like it went through the wash, because it did go through the wash. The arms were off and it looked hopeless. But I just received the watch in mail and it looks brand new. Thank you for your great work.

Dear Stephen,
I received my father's Hamilton Thin-o-matic watch in fine condition. Thank you very much for the prompt and high quality service. He is very pleased with the results and I feel fortunate to have found such an expert and honest repair person.
Best Regards,

My Hamilton Thin-O-Matic arrived last night in the mail. Thank you for the
outstanding job you did on the mechanical repair and on the cosmetics. The
watch looks almost new and is keeping accurate time despite its 40 years. I
was told by a local jeweler that the watch could not be fixed. I might just
have to show him that he was dead wrong. I have a small collection of
vintage watches and you will get all my business from now on. Thanks again
for the wonderful work.

Best Wishes

I just wanted to let you know that I received my watch yesterday and it is working great. Thanks so much. You saved me a ton of money and I feel better about your repair than I would have if it was done by Hamilton.

Your Hamilton Khaki watch is being posted out to you this afternoon by registered insured mail. Please allow at least a week for delivery. The total cost of repair came to $88.00, and your Visa receipt will be enclosed with the watch.

I received my Hamilton Pocket Watch this week and wanted to tell you how
pleased I am with the great repair and cleaning work you did. The watch,
which is the only possession I have to remember my grandfather, had not
been in working for 35 years but I kept it thinking one day I may find
someone that could repair it. After all those years, you were that person
and I thank you! The repair and cleaning job you did was excellent and the
entire transaction was very enjoyable and well explained. Happy New Year!

Thank you! You do beautiful work; I think both the Seiko and the
Hamilton look and run **like new**. Both repairs are perfect as far
as I can see. Thanks also for completing them so quickly.

I've checked the Seiko a couple of times against WWV and the U.S.
Naval Observatory, and it seems to lose about 6 seconds a day. For
a 35-year-old mechanical watch, that's terrific!

I have another one of my Dad's old watches, a Gruen of indeterminate
age, I'd like you to take a look at. I'll send it to you in 3 months
or so.

Thanks again for your fine (and prompt!) work!
